Founder is Arulthiru Bangaru Adigalar.
The movement is also known as the Adhiparasakthi Movement.
Its purpose is to bring Adhiparasakthi's message to
the world and serve humanity.
Adigalar teaches that the greatest form of worship is
service to humanity and that we can all serve God together
within our individual religions without strife, thus
the motto: "One Mother One World." MOSM undertakes
many charitable and educational activities through the
Adhiparasakthi Trust and urges its devotees to take
an active role in helping people in their communities
There is no prescribed belief system for devotees. No
one should give up their current belief if it satisfies
their needs. However, if someone is looking for help
in the spiritual journey they can try and find something
in MOSM to help them.
Its regional focus as up to now is South India especially
Tamil Nadu and Kerala, but its target ir regional expansion.
How does MOSM understands itself
It sees itself as a philosophy, which
embraces all religions with the guidance of the Goddess
It’s believe is based on Hinduism, but MOSM reorganized
the setup and has made changes in rituals, poojas, philosophy,
etc. to suit the people of all religions without changing
the original image.
Open to all, irrespective of caste, creed
and religion it can be considered a socio-religious
movement. It has made a spiritual renaissance in Tamil
Nadu and has reawakened the sense of pride in the Tamil
people's heritage.
The mother goddess Adhiparasakthi is thought
to be the energy behind the birth, continuation and
dissolution of the Universe. She has many titles but
in the end she is said to be The Divine Mother. Both
impersonal and personal are in one and the same God.
While there is a diversity in Hinduism
with great hierarchies in relationships, Adigalar, the
founder of MOSM wants to break them. He uses his status
as an incarnation of the Mother goddess for this purpose
and is spreading the concept of "One Religion,
One Mother" as the basic concept of world peace.
Adigalar sees the world as one family and follows the
doctrine of universal brotherhood.
For Adigalar all women are the visible
manifestation of the Divine Mother. Adigalar expects
the same reverence for women in the life of each devotee.
He is said to be very sensitive to the sufferings and
plights of women and feels that one of the reasons for
India's degraded state in the world is due to its disregard
for the condition of its women. According to him, if
the woman is spiritual, she makes the family spiritual.
In turn the village, the city, the country, and the
world become spiritual. He calls the women sakthis,
without whom there is no regeneration for the world.
The country becomes weakest when the sakthi is held
in dishonor.
Adigalar is propagating a religion that
is equally acceptable to all minds; it is equally philosophic,
equally emotional, equally mystic and equally conducive
to action. Om Sakthi Universal Religion is attained
by Yoga. To the disciple yoga is the union between men
and the whole of humanity, to the mystic it is the union
between his lower and higher self; to the lover or devotee
it is the union between himself and the God of Divine
Love and to the Philosopher it the union of all existence.
This is the meaning of Yoga and it’s follower
is called yogi.
Yogi is called Sakthi in the Om Sakthi Movement. The
Karma Yogi is called the Thondar or worker. One who
seeks union through love is called Bakthi Yogi. A mystic
adherent is called Raja Yogi. And he who seeks it through
philosophy is called Jnana Yogi. In MOSM one can see
all four types mentioned above. Starting from Karma
Yoga or Bakthi Yoga each is raising to other Yogas.
The poojas, rituals of MOSM have been so arranged that
it can cater to the needs of all four types.
According to MOSM we stand at a point
in history where the world is shrinking with different
cultures and religions in conflict and many threatened
with extinction. This has the potential to destroy the
total diversity in this world. This diversity is the
wealth of this world and should be embraced. If we can
realize that we all share the same God and that He/She
has allowed us this diversity so that we can each find
our own way to Her/Him, then we can accept our differences
and even embrace them in peace
Organizational structure
MOSM doesn’t work with priests, monks, sadhus
or sanyasins, but with householders. Devotees are trained
to perform the rituals and poojas. Ashrams or Temples
are only for the spiritual education of the disciples.

MOSM focuses on activities of individual householders,
both men and women, belonging to a religious order.
They are dedicated not merely to their own or to their
family's spiritual discipline and progress and well
being, but also to the spiritual progress and well being
of the society in which they are living.
All offerings made by the devotees, either in money
or kind are collected by the Adhiparasakthi Trust and
used for welfare of humanity and uplifting of downtrodden
people.
Social orientation
Adigalar's concept doesn't bother with what may have
been the source of a man's sufferings according to reincarnation.
One can overcome the effect of all the Karma of the
past through dedicated service to humanity and by immense
faith in Adhiparasakthi.
One has a responsibility to feed the poor, so that they
can also think of God realization and can enter into
the spiritual realm and absorb spiritual knowledge.
The Divine Mother and the Siddhars emancipated souls
can be made happy only by actions via which the poor
are fed. (Anna Thanam and Adai Thanam).
Worship
All worship according to MOSM is the worship of humans
around us. One has to worship one’s own fellow
man and woman first. Each devotee in the Om Sakthi Movement
calls each other "Sakthi" since all the Jivas
are the fragments of Brahma, the Absolute.
Adigalar is not preaching all these things through words
only, but mainly by silence. The sanctity of silence
and the serenity of his thoughts are sensed by his devotees.
Adigalar is preaching to strike a balance between the
two ideals of worship and service. He has dedicated
himself to provide an opportunity to practice the ideals
of Vedantha, without the distraction of the world -
to practice meditation and concentration, continence
and truthfulness, to intensity faith in and love of
Adhiparasakthi, to practice discrimination between the
real and unreal, to practice seeing Adhiparasakthi in
everyone and feeling the living presence of the Divine
Mother
Why MOSM, which is a strongly social service
oriented movement believes in the necessity of spiritualism?
Human beings, though not wholly rational, have emotions
and behave in conformity with traditions and beliefs.
Most leaders consciously and unconsciously use the non-traditional
aspect of human personality to mobilize people for action.
Hence, guidance of Avatar is necessary to reconcile
the rational and positive approach with mystic experience.
Recognizing the existence of non-rational elements in
human behavior is not the same as accepting the existence
of a spiritual order. They are two different things.
A belief in the existence of Brahma or Divine Mother
or a life of spirit is necessary for the message of
a concern for one's fellow human beings.
We have to rediscover the concept of humanity. Human
beings are without doubt different in language, color,
caste, creed, ideology, economic status, social status
and political status. While all these differences are
very important human beings constitute one body and
every human being counts with equal value. All are fragments
of Adhiparasakthi the Supreme Brahman.
To understand the concept of humanity cannot merely
come from the intellect, nor can it come from mere ideology.
Ultimately, the deepest root of a human being lies in
religion or spirituality even call it non-rational,
but the highest motivation in man ultimately comes from
his recognition of the superiority of something above
himself, either as an individual or a representation
of a class or nation.
The vedantic concept of Brahman and of human identity
is a concept familiar in India for many centuries. We
have all heard that “God-Head”, the Brahman
or the Divine Mother Adhiparasakthi, is everywhere and
in every human being.
In MOSM Adigalar is working on implementing all these
things in practice.
MOSM believes that religion has
to be brought to the Market Place.
Religion is not to be kept only in the churches, mosques
and temples, nor only in monasteries or in forest caves
in the mighty Himalayas. Religion is to be brought into
actual life so that common laymen can avail the opportunity.
This is what Adigalar calls the principle of Om Sakthi
Movement.
According to Adigalar, religious ideas will have to
become Universal, vast and infinite; and then alone
shall have the fullest play of religion. He says that
the power of religion has only just begun to manifest
in the world after the start of Om Sakthi Movement.
The power of religion is being broadened and purified
and is going to penetrate every part of human life.
When followers will come to the real spiritual universal
concept then and then alone religion will become real
and alluring; it will come into our very nature, live
in our every movement, penetrate every pore of our society
and be infinitely more power for good than it has ever
been before.
