Success Stories in Nepal
Selling tickets a business? Seems to be a big one!

Shyam was born in October 1966 under the star of Taurus mind you that Taurus is thought to make very selective friends. But once he has made friend they are for life But our Taurus is very charming and communicative and has therefore allots of friends.
He grew up in a family with four brothers where the father was teacher in secondary school and he was the 2nd eldest creating early enough a feeling of ambitiousness in addition he was placed with a mother which wanted education for all her kids even so she was a pure housewife.
Early he wanted to become university professor as most of the family was in teaching family but Hellas
Teaching brings no money and if you want to help your family financially money is a need.
At the age of 16 after finishing his SLC he started work with government on wildlife for nine years and at the same time he runs a small grocery shop on his own by at the same time going to college and finishing his studies as BA after leaving the government he became for some time manager in small company
In 1994 he tried his luck in export but that was not paying off
Finally he found his way when he started with just 1 lakh NRs to sell flight ticket via telecommunication where he was modestly successful. His real success came when he acquired a small travel agency "Osho Travel" at rather favorable terms just 6 years ago as the predecessors weren't too successful.
A year after he had bought the company he was invited to Europe where he used the chance not only to travel around for nearly one month but also to see how the systems were working, how the taxation systems were clear to everyone, how transportation was efficient, And one thing he learned during that time also. That was how to travel by air.
When he came back he was able to explain to his clientele , to a high percentage workers going abroad,
how to travel . May be not important for people always rooming around in the world , but definitely for Nepali coming from the rural areas without any experience.
He had discovered by chance a market, which was going to grow fast. And he grew with the stream of people going abroad.
Even nowadays the stream of workers going abroad grows strongly, while the stream of students going out is a bit flat and the stream of foreigners rooming around in Nepal or going from here outside is nowadays negligible.
His main partners are Royal Nepal, Thai Airways, Quatar and Biman but others are looking for him as well.
Shyam is a hands on manager He has nowadays around 14 staff, which are mostly with him since the beginning. While he doesn't have any management training he has a natural smell how to keep the staff with him, how to get efficiency and how to build a team of adventurers on the way to success. But he is not only working with his staff on a friendly footing, but his staff also participates in his success by getting good salaries, from time to time a party thrown, a loan when needed, insurance coverage and sometimes even the chance to travel on costs coverage by the company. This has paid of with loyalty and efficiency and the desire of the staff to show what they can. While he is doing everything himself he needs some support in systems orientated activities. Here we are coming in.
While full with work he doesn't neglect his wife and his child, which he both loves. His marriage was an arranged one, but mind you not by his family but by close friends from Europe who introduced him to his later wife. His wife was earlier working in an international organization and once the child will be bigger she will go back to work. While a lot of Nepali believe that a wife should not work, he is supporting her as he feels that to keep a broad mind is important for the health of the family.
One of the points he is missing is the lack of time to read on new development in his business. Still as his staff is a reliable one he manages to travel from time to time to UK and Thailand. .
What does he think on the Goldenagers market here in this country. According to him buying power is available, But there is a hinch according to him. This is to change the attitude from building one house after another to enjoying life and enhance one's lifestyle. This is again where we come in.
Interestingly he mentions that in Thailand we had a few years ago the same and Goldenagers punished themselves by renouncing on the beauty of life. But then the government started a campaign to convince people to increase their consumption and luxury. And what happened? Thailand's economy started to grow significantly. This should be possible here also. Thanks Syamji, that was a good tip.

What can be learned out of it ?
Charm and communicative abilities are very helpful in business.
To be the 2nd born can be very helpful in your career as you have early learned how to compete
Its takes some time to reach the way of success
Openness for new thing is always helpful
Even with little money you can do something
Open your eyes and look how things are working where ever you are. small things can be often very helpful
Never forget to thanks Laxmi because without luck there is no success .
In business never stand on one leg
Efficiency without loyalty of your staff is not possible. It is not enough to pay good salary and other material things you also have to create a feeling of a common goal.
Family stability is a big help
Allowing the wife to work is helping the family spirit.
Ever be a open for new market
